CALISTOGA. One of the few breweries in the wine country, Calistoga proudly brews its grain in the midst of the grape. Wheat ale, pilsner, red ale, stout, and IPA are just a few of the hand-crafted brews you'll find on tap in the restaurant and the adjacent pub. The British-style pub is a comfy spot featuring two TVs for avid sports fans and a patio where live music can often be heard. Jazz, blues, and flamenco entertain crowds throughout the week; on Friday and Saturday, R&B and funk get folks out on the dance floor.

ST. HELENA. This attractive stone building on the north side of town is a hit with locals, who relish its fine, handcrafted brews and satisfying food menu. Try an oatmeal stout or a "Certifiable" Blonde Ale on the oak-shaded patio, which offers pleasant views of the countryside. If you're in the mood for something non-alcoholic, SBC makes its own root beer and cream soda, too. Hungry? Silverado meatloaf or grilled mushroom polenta will certainly do the trick. The vibe is casual and laid-back, and you'll find plenty of families as well as couples and groups. Closing hours vary depending on the amount of business and on the season ­ they can extend till 2am when things are busy.
