NAPA. Charming, rustic Angèle serves rich, tempting dishes from southern France. Boasting a small bar and a pleasing riverside patio, the restaurant offers a coziness that happily ensconces patrons as they dine. A peach, nectarine and arugula appetizer salad leaves plenty of room for your <i>plat chaud</i>; try spring chicken with chanterelle mushrooms or filet mignon bordelaise. The <i>galette aux fruits</i>, a summer fruit tart with citrus-infused whipped cream, is a popular dessert choice.

RUTHERFORD. Like a Tuscan manor, this inn sits in stately elegance atop a hill overlooking an olive grove and the lush valley below. Each of the 50 guest rooms and suites is immaculately appointed, and standard amenities include private terrace, DVD and CD player, toaster, king-sized bed with Frette linens, fireplace, and fully stocked honor bar and refrigerator. A variety of guest rooms is available - twin rooms all the way to private cottages. With its charming atmosphere and incredible food, the quaint restaurant has the allure of an authentic bistro, down to the chalkboard listing daily specials and windows adorned with lace curtains. The artfully designed menu features a variety of authentic French dishes, like tried-and-true escargot, coq au vin, and cassoulet. The wine list is extensive.

YOUNTVILLE. Something about once-sleepy Yountville breathes francophilia into folks who spend any amount of time within its boundaries ­ perhaps it's the existence of so many terrific French bistros and cafes in such a small area. Bouchon, with its sidewalk seating, groovy zinc bar, hand-painted tile floors, and cozy banquettes, is one of those places. Owned by Thomas Keller, head chef at the renowned French Laundry, this brasserie features everything from mussels marinieres to classic steak frites and leg of lamb.

GEYSERVILLE. An attractive stop for award-winning estate wines and California-French fare, Chateau Souverain dates from the 1940s, when Fresno native J. Leland Stewart bought land atop Howell mountain and began harvesting wine grapes. Featured labels in the tasting room include Alexander Valley Merlot, Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, and Russian River Valley Winemakers Reserve Chardonnay. After touring the facilities and whetting your palate in the tasting room, enjoy a meal on the cafe terrace with its enchanting views of Napa Valley. Reservations for lunch and dinner accepted.
